SEASONS

It won’t be like this forever. This won’t always be your season.

I’m not sure whether that means you want to grab on tight and love on the things you’re holding right now or if it gives you a sense of relief to know better days are ahead.

But it won’t always be like this.
So regardless of where you are...
Find the good in each day.
Show up to the day.
Pour into the people around you.
Find the things that are making you strong.
Work on your weaknesses.
Embrace what you’re going through so you can grow through it.

The thing about seasons is that they change.

They’re supposed to. Just like fall leaves change color and fall off the branches only for new life to be formed in the spring, we grow and change and things die in us in order to create the atmosphere for new and beautiful things. Because you also grow in seasons, and when you grow & change you need different things. Through seasons your calling gets bigger. The challenges might get bigger too.

But don’t give up, because things will change. Hold fast and secure to the promise that God has something for you. It’s big and it’s good. He has you in the exact place you’re at right now at this time for such a purpose. When you step up in the places He has you, you fulfill things no one else can do. You are enough and you matter. God’s plan for you matters.

Sometimes I feel like God drags me kicking and screaming into new seasons. I get comfortable…settled in a place and resistant to change. But we’re not made for comfort. He has made us for great and big things. And He’s working in the background to take us where we need to go. To bring us the things we need, even when we don’t know how badly we need them. He’s there, He’s ready anytime we call out to him.

Some seasons are full of light. That’s so good. Don’t wish away your season with un-commanded worry. You’re learning something. Take advantage of the joyful times, embrace the easy laughter. It’s okay to enjoy hitting your stride. Sometimes you’re going to have to carry others through.

Some seasons aren’t as bright. Some feel like a fight to press through…don’t wish those ones away either. Those are the ones where God is so in it with you, just waiting for you to reach out and grab His hand. Take it. Let Him illuminate it and bring it to goodness. Sometimes he waits to give us things because we’re the storm that would wreck it. He is protecting us from ruining what he wants us to have but he needs to give it to us in a time we will steward it, not in a time where the thing he has for us will crush us. He’ll bring that season too.

Wherever you’re at, own your season. Do whatever you can with whatever God is giving you right now and find the joy where you are. Find the light in each day. Regardless of your season there is a good sliver of hope in every day. Cling to that and cling to the promises but know God has you where you are right now because he’s shaping you, and someday the season will change.
